Experienced & Highly Trained Sprinkler System Designers

When you hire our team, you are hiring a company with certified irrigation designers (CIDs) and certified irrigation contractors (CICs) that meet irrigation industry standards. Spartan’s certified irrigation designers and contractors have high levels of experience and training, which includes:

  • Completion of a comprehensive exam covering general irrigation subjects.
  • Training in specialty areas of irrigation installation.
  • Adherence to a code of ethics.
  • Continuing education classes with the National Irrigation Association.

Both CIDs and CICs are designated by the Irrigation Association and engage in the preparation of professional irrigation designs and professional installations. CIDs and CICs are responsible for:

  • Evaluating site conditions and deciding on net irrigation requirements.
  • Establishing specifications and design drawings based on the specific project.
  • Constructing an irrigation system that will maintain a healthy and beautiful landscape without wasting water.

Expert Lawn Irrigation System Installation

We insist on using the highest quality, professional-grade lawn irrigation products from all the leading manufacturers including K-Rain, Irritrol, and Toro. We hire licensed plumbing contractors for all new installations to ensure your interior and backflow plumbing is performed according to code.

Whenever possible, we use a vibratory plow for “trenchless” pipe installation. Because vibratory plows do not excavate the soil, they are less destructive than standard trenchers on established lawns. The existing sod heals quickly, and after a few days, there is little evidence that we were ever there.

Our sprinkler installations are meticulous, ensuring that we:

  • Properly groom, compact, and clean up trenches, holes, and/or vibratory plow routes.
  • Install sprinkler heads and valve boxes level to the grade.
  • Position underground lawn sprinkler heads at a consistent distance from hardscapes and bed edges.
  • Neatly install controllers and above ground piping to your pump or city water hook up.

We also pay close attention to unseen details, making sure that we:

  • Use only top quality pipe and fittings.
  • Safeguard the electrical components with special waterproof wire connections.
  • Backfill trenches without debris and rocks that can damage pipes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Spartan Irrigation has many years of experience installing and servicing all major sprinkler brands. If your project does not have a brand specification, we will suggest the use of the K-Rain, Irritrol, or Toro product lines, which have unique advantages for different design applications.

Drip irrigation is a method where small amounts of water are placed directly on the root zone of plants, which uses the water more efficiently. This is done with a network of small tubing that is tied together and provides water to many plants at once. Because the rate of water use for drip irrigation is used at a rate of gallons per hour, a drip zone will usually run up to an hour or more, not twenty or thirty minutes like the lawn sprinkler that waters at a much higher rate. It is generally considered to be better for most planting beds than topical watering, and it is also more water efficient. Your particular situation would dictate whether it is right for you.

It would depend on the size of your yard. An average size lawn and landscape will normally take one to two days, depending on the individual site conditions. Installing a new irrigation system in a large country lawn or in extensive landscaping can take anywhere from two to five days or more. After the initial visit to the site, we will be able to estimate the amount of installation time needed at your property.

We take great care during the installation process to make sure there is as little disruption to your property as possible. We use a vibratory plow to install the lines. Pipes and wires are “pulled” underground through a small slit in the turf to minimize damage to the lawn. We also carefully hand dig in flower beds and around utility markings. After a couple of weeks from the installation date, the only visible signs of your new sprinkler system should be a greener lawn and healthier plants.

Since hand watering is done on a random basis and at irregular intervals, an automatic sprinkler system will actually, in most cases, use less water. It will also disperse the water at an even rate and for a predetermined amount of time. This allows you to water sunny and shady areas for different periods of time and to water when it is most efficient. One obvious benefit is the ability to continue a watering program while you are away.
